# Metacognition & the Yogic Yamas
Tonight at 7:00 PM EST
How aware are you of the thoughts, assumptions, emotional reactions, and habits that shape your experience?
This evening we’ll explore the fascinating intersection between metacognition—the ability to notice and reflect upon our own mental processes—and the wisdom of the Yogic Yamas, the foundational ethical and relational practices of yoga.
Our primary focus tonight will be the lived experience of Dukha—a Sanskrit term often translated as suffering, though many scholars feel that translation misses much of its depth and nuance. Together we’ll explore how dissatisfaction, friction, unease, struggle, longing, resistance, and disconnection can arise within our moment-to-moment experience, often outside of conscious awareness.
Together we’ll consider:
👉 What does it mean to become aware of our own thinking?
👉 Can we notice reactivity as it arises?
👉 How does Dukha show up in our daily lives and relationships?
👉 How do the Yamas support greater authenticity, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence?
👉 What changes when we begin observing the mind rather than simply following it?
Drawing from contemplative practice, neuroscience, relational development, and the Eight Limbs of Yoga, we’ll explore how awareness itself can become a pathway toward greater freedom, wisdom, and connection.
Whether you’re new to these ideas or have been exploring them for years, you’re warmly welcome to join us.
🌿 Join us tonight at 7:00 PM EST.
🙏 Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
We’d love to see you there.
