Empowering the next generation to create, explore, and innovate with AI.

The NextGen AI Lab is an 8-week hands-on program delivered by Western Australian AI Hub in collaboration with the City of Canning, designed for students in Years 7-12 who are curious about artificial intelligence, creativity, and future-ready skills.

The program is facilitated by Dr Eunice Sari, who is passionate about helping young people develop the confidence and skills to use AI safely, creatively, and responsibly.

Your registration includes access to the complete 8-week learning journey, where students will explore AI concepts, design creative projects, and present their ideas in a supportive learning environment.

Time: 3:30 - 5:00 PM AWST

What You Will Learn

• Week 1 (23 July): AI Foundations & Safe Prompting (Understand what AI is, how it works, and how to use it safely and effectively)
• Week 2 (30 July): Creative AI & Story Prototyping (Use AI to develop creative ideas, stories, and digital content)
• Week 3 (6 Aug): Data, Bias & Fairness (Discover how data shapes AI and why fairness and ethics matter)
• Week 4 (13 Aug): Build Your AI Project Brief (Define a real-world challenge and plan an AI-powered solution)
• Week 5 (20 Aug): Prototype Sprint (Create and refine your AI project using practical tools)
• Week 6 (27 Aug): Testing & Human Review (Evaluate, improve, and refine your project with feedback)
• Week 7 (3 Sept): Pitch & Ethics Check (Present your idea while considering ethical and responsible AI use)
• Week 8 (10 Sept): Showcase & Family Reflection (Celebrate your achievements by showcasing projects with family and peers)
