Back to modern history (and Fridays!) this month and continuing on in the 1500s chronologically from Spanish colonialism with the events of the Reformation - a shockwave that reverberated around Europe.
According to Google AI:
"The early Reformation was a 16th-century movement that began with Martin Luther in 1517, challenging the Catholic Church's authority and teachings, especially regarding indulgences and salvation by faith alone, not works. Fuelled by the printing press and supported by secular rulers, the movement led to the founding of Protestantism, a new branch of Christianity, and sparked significant political, economic, and social changes across Europe. Key figures include Luther, Huldrych Zwingli, and later, John Calvin."
***Rather than a presentation or lecture, the idea will be for attendees to do their own prior research which they can then contribute with at the event. You are also welcome to attend of course without researching or having anything to share.***
