Azure Virtual Datacenter for the Enterprise using Infrastructure as Code

The Azure Virtual Datacenter (AvDC) is essentially a collection of separate but related entities with common supporting functions, features, and infrastructure. By viewing workloads as an integrated AvDC, you can realize reduced cost due to economies of scale, optimized security through component and data flow centralization, along with easier operations, management, and compliance audits.

The AvDC can help provide:

• Migration of workloads from an on-premises environment to Azure

• Implementation of shared or centralised security and access requirements across workloads

• Mixing DevOps and Centralised IT appropriately for a large enterprise

Deploying a Conference to Azure

The DDD Perth conference website and backend operations have been refreshed this year. They are hosted on Azure, with an open source code base, VSTS continuous delivery pipelines and use of various Azure services for the compute and data requirements, including Cosmos DB and Logic Apps to keep the organising committee up to date with ticket sales and CFP submissions. In this presentation, Rob will take a walkthrough of the end-to-end implementation and deployment, including how various Azure services have been used to deliver the cohesive solution.

Rob is a Principal Consultant with Readify and specialises in leading teams towards the delivery of business value using Agile and Lean values and principles and by adopting DevOps and Continuous Delivery practices.
