Artificial Intelligence (AI) was not intended to have human-like cognitive abilities and personality. AI (or narrow AI) was rather to be used in accomplishing specific pre-learned problem solving or reasoning tasks (such as asking Siri “what’s the time?” or “which restaurant is top-rated in Sanlitun?”)

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), on the other hand, is a hypothetical (strong AI) ability of an intelligent agent to understand or learn any intellectual task that a human being can perform. This would require the intelligent agent to have self-awareness and consciousness.
