"Stoics offer a clear rule: If someone’s opinion relates to your character, pay attention. If not, don’t attach too much importance to it." - Dr Chuck Chakrapani
From ancient times to today people have craved the approval of others. Whether it be climbing the social ladder, promotions at work or collecting clicks and likes online, it often feels like obtaining the good opinion of others is an essential part of life.
The Stoics, however, disagreed with this completely. To a Stoic the opinions of others are outside of our control and therefore are not our concern. So how can we free ourselves from the fear of others’ disapproval?
We invite you to join us for a lively discussion about Stoic principles and practice, and how they can help us to live a good life. All are welcome, whether you are well versed in Stoicism, a Stoic novice, or are simply curious to learn more.
