I'm heading to Omemee on Sunday to explore a 10 km paddle on the Pigeon River. It is early in the season and the water will be cold, and it could be chilly still. My suggestion to anyone who wants to join me is DRESS WARMLY, bring an extra set of clothes in a dry bag, and include in that a rain jacket (also as a wind breaker).

We will meet and undload boats at the 'Put In' before 11:30 am, where the Pigeon river crosses St. Mary's Rd (very near to where this road intersects Golf Course Rd.). We will then shuttle the cars to the 'Take Out' (yes this is a one way trip) at Omemee Municipal Park, and return the drivers back to the 'Put in.' Hopefully we will be on the water and paddling shortly after 12 noon.

At this time of year the Cattails and Bulrushes of the wetland have barely begun to grow, but we will hear a plethora of Red Winged Blackbirds and maybe see a lot of water fowl. Without the new plant growth at this time of year, finding the main water course's route maybe a bit of an adventure. But with higher water levels we may have water flow to help!

I can take an extra Canoe or Kayak on my car's roof rack if this helps anyone.

Bring a snack, and maybe a warm drink in a thermos.

This sounds like I am planning a cold weather paddle, I know, because on May 10th you need to 'hope for the best and plan for he worst.' Presently the weather App says sunny, and cool.
If anyone has any questions about this paddle don't hesitate to contact me. Our route is the red line on the map, traveling west to east (north is up!)
