Bulldog Canyon - Weekday Full Moon Night Run
Details
Bulldog Canyon a desert trail for day or night. We will hit the trail in the daylight and finish under a full moon, hopefully clear of clouds.
Our last daytime trip there was June 2019. A recent daytime trek through the canyon a few weeks ago found a few changes: interesting washouts that made for more flexing of suspension, a bit more loose rocks and small boulders on the trail and some changes to the routes. The trail was still doable by a stock 4x4 vehicle with off-road tires.
A permit is required to operate a motorized vehicle in the Bulldog Canyon OHV area. Make sure your permit is current. If not, click the link below to purchase the Tonto National Forest OHV Permit, which allows access to ALL of the following OHV areas: Bulldog Canyon, The Rolls, Desert Vista, and St. Clair (Telegraph). Permit options are available at varying cost: 3-day permit for $10, 6-month permit for $60, and annual permit for $80; and are available for purchase on line at Tonto National Forest OHV Permit.
As usual, bring along appropriate survival and extraction equipment
and supplies: water for you, passengers & vehicle; tools & recovery gear; clothing & footwear for daytime heat and night chill for walking about in the desert; lunch & snacks; and items for your comfort.
