This is a free, confidential virtual support group for LGBTQ+ identified persons, as well as family, friends, and allies of LGBTQ+ people. This will take place online, using Zoom Web conferencing. This virtual support group will take place online, using Zoom Web conferencing. (You will need to register for a free account on https://zoom.us.)

If you will be using Zoom for the first time, when you click on the meeting link, the Zoom app will be downloaded and installed on your computer or your phone. Please allow for 15 minutes beforehand for the installation and for any set-up that you might want to do to your Zoom user profile.

VERY IMPORTANT: We ask that all attendees have their camera on PRIOR TO being admitted to the meeting. Having camera on will help us to connect better visually and to better support each other. As a matter of safety, you cannot participate with camera off. If you need strict anonymity, please reach out to us beforehand to work something out.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We gather at 6:45 pm. We starts at 7:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm.

Attendees participate in a sharing circle where people discuss issues, ask questions, offer personal experience, suggest advice and solutions, etc. Attendees have different journeys and experiences, which makes for a large fount of useful and beneficial information, tips, and advice. You may participate in the discussion, or just observe, whatever you feel comfortable doing.

Every meeting is different and you will probably find the discussion interesting. You will feel a sense of being connected to others as they share and discuss issues. The discussion is moderated by a facilitator to ensure fairness and to meet the needs of all the attendees. Topics vary by month and by meeting depending upon the needs of those who attend. New attendees almost universally feel very glad that they attended our support groups.

NOTE: even though many of our support group meetings are held in churches, PFLAG Austin is agnostic with respect to religion. We do not endorse nor discuss religion in our support groups.
