Transform monologues into living reality. Master character vs. actor thoughts to deliver memorable performances in 3 weeks
Uncover the psychological secret that separates good performances from unforgettable ones. Led by Matthew Hurley, this focused three-week workshop dives into the critical distinction between:
Actor Thoughts (your internal monologue about technique, lines, and blocking)
and
Character Thoughts (the immediate, raw, and reactive inner life of the person you are portraying).
Through targeted monologue exercises, and direct feedback, you will learn how to quiet the actor’s inner monitor and fully anchor your mind in the active thought patterns of your character moment to moment utilizing wardrobe and props.
Workshop Highlights:
- Week 1 September 24th 7-10pm: Dissecting the Internal Line: Identifying and silencing technical "Actor Noise" during performance.
- Week 2 October 1st 7-10pm : Constructing Character Logic: Building a continuous, authentic stream of real-time "Character Thought." Finding truth in wardrobe and props.
- Week 3 October 8th 7-10pm : Application & Integration: Putting it into practice under live direction with monologue scene work incorporating wardrobe and props.
