Transit Data:
Here is a list of potential projects:

  • Realtime map of buses w/ USB chargers: If your phone is about to die, see if there's a nearby bus that can charge your phone and get you where you need to go
  • Bus stops most in need of amenities: First, analyze bus stops by ridership and current amenities. Then see which stops have the heaviest usage but no shelter.
  • Bus stop info extractor: See how many people board/alight the buses within a certain radius of an address or point. E.g. business owners could see how much foot traffic they might get within a 1/4 mile of a location.

Analyze hourly ridership data and/or crowding data

  • Waiting for PAAC to post additional datasets for hourly data

Pittsburgh Food Policy Council's Food Access Tool:

This project's goal is to create an internal and public-facing resource (e.g. an interactive map) for people looking to find healthy, affordable food (ie. where can I buy produce with SNAP?).
