What we’re about
"Let us not seek for a theory behind the phenomena. The phenomena themselves are the theory."
—Goethe (paraphrase)
If you're drawn to both science and spirituality, let's chat! Full disclosure, I'm a lay person. I define spirituality as a deeply felt sense of the interrelatedness of the Whole, and an embeddedness, aligned agency, relation, and participation with the Whole. To me, it seems like modern science is telling us what perennial wisdom has been pointing to. Analysis is catching up with intuition.
Our goal is to explore and understand spirituality by looking at and through the phenomena themselves. I believe we are a reflection of the fundamental nature of reality and this appears to be discernible by paying attention to phenomena. As we develop spiritual understanding, we will work on embodying our understanding.
What do the throughlines of the different kinds of phenomena tell us? Life & Death, Day & Night, Contraction & Expansion — do these point to non-duality? Do the phenomena tell us we're interconnected? The contraction and expansion of my heart and lungs can be traced back to the birth and death of stars.
For each event, I'd like to begin with a group breathwork and meditation session for a total of ~35 minutes. Afterwards, we'd have discussions on spiritual topics and inner work. All beliefs are welcomed as long as you appreciate plurality and synthesis, and are fundamentally grounded in phenomena.
If you want to get a better idea of where I'm coming from, have a look at the videos I've made:
"An Organizing Principle: Unite the Divided, Differentiate the Integrated", 14 minutes - https://youtu.be/RyW851JSu6Y

I believe Iain McGilchrist's work on the brain hemispheres is incredibly insightful and provides a good foundation to understanding spirituality.
Truth is our aim and so we commit to bringing our best selves to this space, and when disagreeing we will do so respectfully and with care. I have so much to learn myself. I'm not claiming to be perfect, at all.
We value: feeling, thinking, imagination, truth, and most especially, embodiment.
I still have to figure out location.

Meditation/Breathwork and Discussion at Coronation Park
Coronation Park, 711 Lakeshore Blvd West, Toronto, ON, CAHi everyone!
Let's meetup at Coronation Park?!
There are washrooms at the park and parking available on the road that goes through the park.
Please bring a mat/blanket to sit on and warm clothes. I'll have handwarmers available for anyone who needs them. I'd estimate the temperature in that area to be around sub or low 20 degrees since we'll be close to the water and it'll be the morning.
Once I find a spot at the park, I will take a picture of the area and share it in the group. If anything, I'm an Asian male, wearing a black jean jacket, and I'll have a red blanket and a grey backpack on the ground beside a tree. DM me if you need my number.
We'll begin with a 20 minute breathwork session followed by a 15 minute meditation. I don't plan to guide the breathwork or meditation, but I will provide pointers. For the breathwork, I'll simply play a youtube video by Breathe with Sandy on a speaker for everyone to follow along (https://youtu.be/xwoQJe1e9m0?si=HCfaZvz7n0xlW3XU). I find that breathwork is much better done on an empty stomach, so I'd recommend that if you do eat, eat at least 2-3 hours before arriving.
After our group breathwork session, we'll have an open discussion on spirituality. What's been on my mind is how feeling and embodiment are foundational to spirituality, and that learning to notice and discern the language of our bodies is part of the path towards wholeness.
What's been on your mind?
