Online Catan Universe Gaming! Join us Monday at 7pm

Friends - lets get started with gaming online together! I think the best way to get this started is for us to play Settlers of Catan online at the Catan Universe app.

Many of you have already down-loaded the Catan Universe app and have joined our Guild, appropriately named "MeetUp Philly". We already have over 10 members. If you are already on Catan Universe but haven't joined our Guild, do it asap!

Catan Universe is an online app to allow people to play Catan. If you are familiar with the game already, that's great! After downloading the app...
note: I play on my iPad, some people play on their phones, but you can also use Steam to play on your PC which is probably easier with the larger screen than a phone
...it begins with a short tutorial. I suggest familiarizing yourself with some of the functions as you get started. You can play some FREE GAMES with random opponents to familiarize yourself. Plus, you will NOT be able to join our Guild until you are at Level 2 (which is relatively easy).

When you hit Level 2, which should only take a game or two or three, you can then join our Guild. Our Guild is "MeetUp Philly". Join early because I will need to "accept you". At 7pm Monday I will be playing, and will NOT be able to accept you until games are finished, so join asap!

To join our Guild, you click on your profile and then click on Guild and do a search.

Catan Universe is FREE to get started. After you are in, on the upper right side you will have "Scrolls" that are given to you for free when you start (you can purchase more, see their Store). I suggest learning to play & familiarize yourself with the setting in their Free Matches against random opponents. However, you will need to spend ONE SCROLL to play with us on Monday night. Each scroll allows you to play 4 player matches with random island settings for 24 hours.

On Monday, before 7pm, you should spend one scroll. Then at 7pm, in the drop down box for Matches, you will want to click on 3 or 4 players, and also click on Guild. This way we can all play against each other, Guild members vs Guild members.

Friends, if you have questions you can post them below. However, if you have technical questions, I suggest going to the Catan Universe FB group and ask them there. Many of the people there have far more experience with the app than I do.

Also, you should be aware that we are not the only people thinking of gaming online during COVID-19 quarantine. The past week or so Catan Universe has been hit with more than double their usual user traffic. So please be patient with their servers. If you are in games that freeze up on Monday, you can always leave and try to start again -- we can all play more than one game on Monday, I certainly hope to!

Also, if you join us late, you can always try & see if you can get into a game. Most Catan Universe games seem to take about 25-40 minutes (turns have a time limit). So if you don't get into a game with us right away, you can try again in about 10 or 15 minutes & see if others have joined us late or if some games have finished & people want to play again.

Since this is the first time we are trying this, I hope I covered all the bases. If you are familiar with Catan Universe, please add comments below that will be helpful for newbies.
