RSVP by August 4!!
Members of the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) and their guests (and Meetup members) have been invited to participate in a motorcoach tour of John Wilkes Booth's escape led by Tom Schultz of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington DC. (Those who participate in the APT Book Club may remember that the group read Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson in 2023.)
The route follows the one John Wilkes Booth took after he assassinated Abraham Lincoln: from Washington DC through southern Maryland starting at Ford's Theater and ending at King Street Metro Station in Alexandria, Virginia. The bus tour includes stops at the Surratt Tavern, the Dr. Mudd Home, Rich Hill, Pine Thickett, and Pope's Creek. After the tour, there will be a casual fellowship gathering at Theisman's Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria. The cost including transportation and admission fees is $165.
Visit the Guild's website to register or for more information. If you plan to attend, please let Marianne [president@phillyguides.org](mailto:president@phillyguides.org) know. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Washington DC. It's a rare opportunity for a really cool tour!
