With the help of APT member Charlene Mires, the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) has organized an advocacy training with the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). The major initiative is called “Reframing History,” and it has a variety of online resources.

We will be watching their recorded webinar together at Philly’s Gourmet Steaks, 114 Market Street, upstairs. Come at 6:30 to get food and drinks! The recording is 80 minutes, and afterwards we’ll discuss the material. The event should last about 1 hour and 40 minutes. This event is free, only available in person, though the recording is available for purchase for $15 from AASLH to watch on your own time.

Their resources are fantastic, providing valuable information not only for APT’s truth telling initiatives but for all guides. Any guide would benefit from learning why history matters and how to communicate this effectively and diplomatically to others.

No need to RSVP; just show up! Any questions can be addressed to Marianne [president@phillyguides.org](mailto:president@phillyguides.org).
