Pack up your drinks and snacks and bring some friends for a dreamy evening in our glittering mosaicked space! Find a place to picnic and enjoy a live performance by Xemi in our sparkly courtyard. A Philly native, Xemi is a vocalist and musician specializing in merging the electronic and acoustic worlds of music.

Head over to our craft tables where Teaching Artist Caro Thomas will help us create custom tote bags using the historic cyanotype printing process. Cyanotypes, invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel and famously used by botanist Anna Atkins to document plant specimens, create stunning white silhouettes against deep prussian blue backgrounds through a light-sensitive chemical process that reacts to UV light. In this workshop, you’ll learn this traditional “sun printing” technique while drawing inspiration from the Magic Gardens’ intricate and bold mosaics. No previous experience necessary – each participant will leave with their own unique cyanotype tote bag and the knowledge to continue exploring this captivating art form at home!

Attendees can also enjoy self-guided tours of our rarely-seen mosaicked basement, and can view our current exhibition, Of Earthen Kin: Works by Katie Kaplan.
