Over time, JavaScript has become a very versatile language, but just how versatile? To find out, I embarked on an “Adult Hackathon” to build a new multi-platform product with a CLI, a website, a mobile app, and an API utilizing as much JavaScript as possible. Come learn from my successes and failures and pave the way to making your own JavaScript-acular products.

When Coded by Kids launched we played around with and considered using several languages, including Java and Python. In the end, JavaScript became our default programming language of choice to teach our young learners the fundamentals of programming. I would like to share why we made this decision, why we continue to use JavaScript in our classes and what my experiences have been teaching JavaScript to children.
