November's will be conducted by Bro. Anthony Sokol as he asks the question, "Should humans endure extreme pain for the pursuit of transcendental experiences?"

Synopsis:
The French film, Martyrs (2008), directed by Pascal Laugier, explicitly centered on extreme suffering and its effect on the human spirit, particularly the question of whether it can be broken, or, conversely, transcended to achieve a form of “martyrdom” or spiritual insight. We will explore the limits of human experience, the pursuit of the afterlife, the line between victim and martyr, trauma, retribution, and the protagonist’s final journey and the whispered revelation. Please join us this November for the MPS discussion.

Mission Statement:
The Masonic Philosophical Society embraces the concept of learning, not for school, but for life, and believes that all men, who seek it, deserve access to continued education. We further embrace the concept of a community environment where ideas can be shared and debated in an open forum. From the seven liberal arts to the arcane, we seek to gain and share the knowledge that is the legacy of mankind.
