for the next in-person meeting of the Masonic Philosophical Society – Philadelphia Study Centre, as Bro. LaRonda Koffi presents:
How Does the Path of the Mystic Unfold?

Synopsis
Following our opening discussion on the universality of the mystical calling, this second session turns its focus to the process of mystical development. If the path is open to all, how may it unfold within the individual?
Across cultures and traditions, mysticism is described as a gradual and ordered inner development shaped by discipline, self-knowledge, ethical refinement, and direct experience. In contrast to a single hallmark event, the mystic’s journey unfolds through recognizable stages such as awakening, purification, illumination, and integration into daily life.
Drawing on H. Spencer Lewis’s Essays of a Modern Mystic, along with insights from Hermetic philosophy, Kabbalah, alchemy, and Eastern contemplative traditions, this session will explore mystical unfoldment as a lived, practical process rather than an abstract ideal.
Together, we will consider:

  • How mystical awareness begins and deepens over time
  • The role of discipline, intuition, and inner experience in spiritual unfoldment
  • Common stages and challenges encountered along the path
  • How inner realization becomes aligned with outer life

This will be an interactive discussion blending short readings, reflective dialogue, and simple experiential exercises, inviting participants to recognize signs of unfoldment already present in their own lives.
Rather than presenting mysticism as distant or inaccessible, this session approaches it as a natural process of inner growth—one that unfolds according to universal principles when approached with sincerity, patience, and discernment.

  • Part I – December 13, 2025: Is the Path of the Mystic Open to All?

This opening discussion explores the universal nature of mysticism and asks whether this path is for a chosen few or open to all who sincerely seek truth.

  • Part II – January 10, 2026: How Does the Path of the Mystic Unfold?

Following the first discussion on the universality of the mystical calling, this second session explores the process of mystical unfoldment.

  • Part III – February 14, 2026: What Is the Fulfillment of the Mystic's Path?

This third and final discussion will consider fulfillment as a state of realized unity — where the mystic lives in harmony with the Whole, perceives the Divine in all things, and expresses illumination through love, compassion, and selfless service.
