Discussing the Theory behind Dr. Carl Jung's "Shadow self"
Details
May's topic will be conducted by Bro. Sabrina Pasquariello as she discusses the theory behind Dr. Carl Jung's "Shadow self."
Synopsis:
While the shadow often holds "darker" traits such as anger, greed, or envy, Jung emphasized that it can also contain "golden" qualities—like creativity or power—that may have been suppressed if they were not encouraged. We will discuss the goal of "shadow work" which is not to eliminate these parts of ourselves, but rather to integrate them. We will also discuss the goal of 'Shadow Integration' which is not to defeat or eliminate the shadow, but to acknowledge it and find healthy ways to express its energy where the ego and unconscious are in harmony.
Mission Statement:
The Masonic Philosophical Society embraces the concept of learning, not for school, but for life, and believes that all men, who seek it, deserve access to continued education. We further embrace the concept of a community environment where ideas can be shared and debated in an open forum. From the seven liberal arts to the arcane, we seek to gain and share the knowledge that is the legacy of mankind.
