Rent kayaks from Valley to Summit, LLC and enjoy a 2-3hr tranquil float down the Schuylkill River from Ganshahawny Park to Towpath Park near Pottstown. 3 launch times available: 9:30AM, 11:00AM, 1:00PM.
Tranquil water, an abundance of wildlife, and lush greenery along the banks make for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The cost is $55 per person and includes kayak, paddle, life jacket, shuttle and pre-trip instruction & safety talk. You may bring your friends who are not members of this Meetup group at the same price per person. Please note that this trip is not exclusive to this Meetup Group. TRIP DETAILS
Description: This is a great relaxing section that displays the wild beauty of the Schuylkill River outside of the City of Philadelphia. Hallmarks include slow-moving water, a diversity of stately trees lining the banks, birds soaring above, great blue heron stalking fish in the shallows, and hopeful sightings of eagles, turtles, frogs and fish. As you near the end of the paddle, explore a one mile long series of river islands..
Experience level: Beginner. Great for first time kayakers
Meeting Location: Towpath Park, which is also the take-out location
Total Trip Time: 4 hrs. – begins at meeting time and includes intros, shuttle, gear outfitting, instruction and kayaking
Dates: Every other Saturday starting May 27 & every other Sunday starting May 21
Meeting Times: 9:30AM, 11:00AM, 1:00PM
Shuttle Info: shuttle departs 10 min. after meeting time and is a 10 min. ride from Towpath Park to Ganshahawny Park
Put-In Time & Location: aprroximately 30 min. from arriving at Ganshahawny Park.
On-Water Time Allotment: up to 3 hrs.
Take-Out Time & Location: 4 hrs. from meeting time (the time for which you booked) at Towpath Park
What's Included: Kayak, paddle, life jacket with whistle, laminated map, waterproof bag (optional)
Available Kayaks: 13 single sit-ins, 11 single sit-on-tops, 4 tandem sit-on-tops, 2 tandem sit-ins
Restroom: porta potty at put-in and take-out
