You see them everywhere, from Microsoft Word in the 1990s to a great many websites are pushing a virtual ‘helper’ to the bottom corner of your experience. Their helpfulness seems to be the exception versus the rule these days. But that doesn’t mean they are not a big part of the future of software. We will explore a bit of history and the practical state of the technology underpinning natural language (NLP) including use cases that are well-supported by the advances NLP.
