The Gang Deploys Helium and Decentralizes a Wireless Network, With Mark Phillips

Details

For our February event, Philly Blockchain Tech is excited to welcome Mark Phillips, VP of Business Development for Helium.

The Helium Hotspot is a combination wireless router for IoT devices and Helium Blockchain miner. Since going on sale in May of 2019, thousands of Hotspots have been sold, and are now deployed by people like you in over 750 towns and cities across the US.

As a result, the Helium Network is the largest, public LPWAN in the country. Philadelphia alone has over 25 Hotspots which are actively providing wireless coverage for the coming wave of IoT devices preparing to use the Helium Network as an alternative to costly Cellular networks and the limited range of WiFi.

In this talk, Mark will cover the basics of the Helium Network, with a special focus on the Blockchain and how it rewards people deploying Hotspots. We’ll also get a live demo from a local software developer who is actively deploying Hotspots and building connected devices on the Helium Network in Philadelphia.

Mark will also be giving away one Helium Hotspot to a lucky attendee, and a handful of Helium-ready development boards. Thanks to Helium for co-sponsoring the event!
