Third Wednesday of the month, as always! In partnership with the IoT (Internet of Things) Meetup, we're looking at what it takes to get all those devices, appliances, objects and wearables connected and talking to one another. The future is now. And some great demos, too. We're excited to have Tom Luczak give his keynote, IoT is more than the “next big thing.”

Guest Speaker

Tom Luczak (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tomluczak), Co-Founder & CTO, Flowthings (https://flowthings.io/), @Flowhingsio (https://twitter.com/flowthingsio), @TomAtFlow (https://twitter.com/TomAtFlow)

IoT is more than the “next big thing”

We have been instrumenting the physical world since the earliest days of computing? what technologies have enabled groundswell in “buzz” surrounding IoT? How is it different than SCADA and M2M? What makes IoT orders of magnitude more promising than every other evolution in computing in the last 50 years? What risks and opportunities will present themselves 2016 and beyond?

Tom Luczak hails from Bucks County, where he started his love affair with all things computing, hardware, and communications in the mid-80's while soldering upgrades into floppy drives and "enhancing" modems and phone lines to get better speed on his modem. After a brief stint at Drexel University he turned that passion into a career while serving in the Army as an Electronic Warfare/Signals Intelligence Specialist/Linguist. Tom served as a Technical Director and specialized in multiple analytic disciplines while participating in the creation of several national-level intelligence products. In 2006 Tom transitioned to the civilian technology space and moved to NYC to join his first start up and has been working there since. When not working he’s often back in the Delaware Valley to relax and unwind. Tom co-founded flowthings.io in 2010 with the vision of enabling agile realtime data sharing and intelligence generation between disparate systems and has been serving as it's CTO since inception.
