Mountain top Sunfish Pond surrounded by dense woodlands is a highlight scenic stopping point on the Appalachian Trail in the Delaware Water Gap, through hikers stop and camp near by to enjoy the serenity.
One of New Jersey’s Seven Natural Wonders which also is a southern most Glacial water feature in NJ.
About a 9 mile loop with a ascent of 1000 feet elevation gain over 4 miles and then the same for the descent.
We'll hike to Sunfish Pond, with a rocky shore on the west side that will surely test your balance.
Then return down the Dunnfield creek trail which increases with difficulty and challenges you with multiple creek crossings. Each has a different crossing strategy and it adds a lot of fun to the hike.

Plenty of ankle turners and toe biters!
Trail conditions depend on weather, be prepared for water, mud, and wet feet.

Be sure to bring plenty of water, some calories to keep you going and appropriate footwear. Trekking poles may also be helpful.
Facilities available.
Please no Pets.

Traction device and poles are recommend for the winter season.
Hike will cancel from severe weather.
