Summer Sunday platform: Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Details

Join the United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia for an engaging program to commemorate the horrors of the only time nuclear weapons were used against human beings – and for insights into the ongoing nuclear threat.

This year marks 80 years since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki — acts that reshaped history. As nuclear arsenals persist, we gather to remember, mobilize against further expansion of nuclear arsenals, and continue working for disarmament. Learn from peace workers, hear voices from the global community, and find out how you can join the movement to eliminate nuclear weapons.

Speakers:
Dr. Kathleen Welch, Back from the Brink (keynote address)
Dr. Christiaan Morssink, President, UNA-GP
Anisa Williams, Youth Speaker, CFPA
Shaghayegh Chris Rostampour, Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction
Musical presentation by Cyrano Rosentrater (violin) and Alejandro Wu-Mula (piano), winners of the Jr Peace & Music Ambassador Program of Harmony for Peace Foundation.
