Seems so basic: just a click in the “Options for Field” dialog, and you’ve told FileMaker to populate a field with a default value in new records. But Auto-Enter is so much more than plain serial numbers and timestamps!
David will demonstrate what Auto-Enter calculations can do for formatting, “cleaning”, and calculating data. You’ll see why in certain situations they’re better than plain lookups, calculation fields, or script triggers on fields. Good topic for beginners, and sure to be a lively discussion for all.
