Vango SkyLounge Soiree

Vango Lounge & Sky Bar

Greetings everyone: With my Rueda practice being shifted to Wed evenings, I've decided to host a weekly evening of cocktails and dancing on Monday nights at Vango Sky Lounge & Bar. So here is the deal. Everyone is responsible for paying for their own drinks and food.We will be meeting on the main floor between 9:00-9:15 p.m. to socialize with one another. At 9:15 p.m. you can take advantage of the free lesson, which will be salsa. THAT'S RIGHT ... FREE LESSON!!! The instructors infuse their lesson with a bit of humor and raucousness as everything is broken down step by step to provide a fun learning experience. Once the lesson is over, practice what you've learned, as well as continue to drink & socialize. Rey Rosario and Joe Figueroa will be alternating biweekly in the DJ Booth, bringing you the best salsa, bachata, and additional Latin tunes throughout the night.....1,2,3...5,6,7!!! The social attracts a lot of different levels of dancers from beginners to intermediate to advanced. Everyone dance with each other and is delighted to share their knowledge of moves/tricks/shines. See you there. Nuff said. P.S. If you don't recognize me from my photo, please ask Amal behind the bar to point you in my direction☺ & tell her you're looking for Josh. I've known the staff for years and they've always been attentive to us.

Isla Verde Soiree

Isla Verde Cafe

Isle Verde is hosting a free salsa night Wednesdays, with instruction care of my friend Maestro Flaco. He is also a Latin dance sensei from whom I’ve learned a lot & continue to educate myself - in the ways of navigating salsa rhythms. He is funny, raucous and very attentive to details that will make us better dancers. If you have not had dinner, highly recommend coming at 7 to grab a bite or a drink to fuel up & relax after a long work day. Located at 2725 N American street, the menu offers good Cuban food as well as affordable brick oven pizzas (with pizza dough made fresh on premises) and excellent Mohitos. There should be street parking available in front of the restaurant. Additional free parking is available in the Isla Verde Plaza lot adjacent to Isla Verde Cafe. One can also take the #57 bus from 3rd and Market, which will put you right on the corner and then its a 3min walk to the venue. By 8 p.m., the tables will be cleared from the main floor to create space for the lesson. So come & dance the salsa you know and/or learn some new steps and a new way of doing salsa! This amazing video of rueda Cuban Circle salsa dance as a flash mob which shows a few of the moves we learned along with a whole lot more... very entertaining and fun! Shows what's possible! https://youtu.be/GPp7UX5d2n0. P.S. These events are being done in conjunction/partnership with my friend Linda. In addition to being a meet-up member, she is also a host /ambassador for couchsurfing.com. Feel free to introduce yourself to her if you recognize her from her Meetup profile photo.
