In this event Leslie Allan interviews child sexual abuse survivor, Terry Kelly. We will explore Terry's battle to get justice for the abuse he suffered at the hands of a Marist Brother while attending the Assumption College in Kilmore. After many decades of silence, Terry spoke up to finally make the Catholic Church accountable for its actions and inactions. Come and hear Terry's story of sorrow and final triumph.

In this session, we’ll trace how early Christianity reimagined reality not as grounded in Nature, but in Spirit—a cohesive, unifying force whose instrument is love. Smith draws a striking connection between the Christian idea of sin and the Greek tragic concept of hamartia, a fatal misjudgment or failure to see what is essential. Far from mere wrongdoing, sin here becomes a metaphysical blindness—a turning away from spiritual clarity and wholeness. Through this lens, we’ll explore how both individuals and cultures can miss the mark in ways that unravel their moral integrity from within. This is not a sermon, but a philosophical reckoning with what it means to see clearly—and what’s at stake when we don’t.

Our group enjoys open-minded, respectful conversations on Stoicism and how it relates to science, culture, philosophy, other belief systems, and even pop culture (books and movies). Sometimes "we agree to disagree", but the long-term goal is to improve our minds via group discussions.
In general, Stoicism teaches us how to handle difficult people and events, how to avoid anger and worry, and overall to use moderation in all aspects of our lives.
