"The US Mid Terms - Political Violence"

University of Chicago political scientist Robert Pape and the Chicago Project on Security and Threats (CPOST) report that American support for political violence has entered an “era of violent populism,” moving from the fringes into the mainstream. In recent research they have found.

  • Support to Prevent the Presidency: Recent CPOST surveys indicate that 25% of all American adults (roughly 65 million people) support using force to prevent Donald Trump from being president.
  • Democratic Electorate Split: Among self-identified Democrats in that specific survey cohort, 44% expressed support for using force to keep Trump out of the presidency.
  • CPOST data has also captured segments on the right—such as 16% of Americans in recent tracking—supporting measures like using the military to suppress political opponents or protesters, alongside earlier metrics showing support to restore Trump by force.

Possibly more than at any other time in history our world is being shaped by the policies and actions of one country and its current administration, and indeed with the upcoming elections of that country the ingredients are there for something much larger and significant to unfold in the fallout.

With widening viewpoints, political assignations, possible economic collapse, and energy crisis, and an administration that on the surface of seems intent on dismantling the system of democracy that was a gold standard for the world for a more authoritarian form of government, there seems especially considering Robert Papes finding a considerable chance that whether the Mid Terms go ahead or not, the occurrence of civil unrest at the least to out right civil war at a worst case scenario for that country and on a global scale massive shifts in power and conflict.

What are the ramifications for the world either way, what happens in that country will have a flow on affect to us all. There are other players in this as well, from a Geopolitical stand point what will those other powers in the world do, take advantage of?
How will this affect us as from a philosophical point of view? Who are we becoming?

If your interested in discussing the ramifications of this election on us personally and society and culture come along on Tuesday the 13th of October for what is always an engaging, fun and deep discussion.

I look forward to seeing you and sharing your wisdom as we explore this interesting subject.
