After having completed Augustine's Confessions, we turn to working through some of Roman history by reading some of Plutarch's Lives on major Roman figures. Plutarch begins his examination of Roman history with his lives of Romulus and the second king, Numa Pompilius. Plutarch pairs these lives with the legendary or semi-legendary founders of Athens and Sparta, Theseus and Lycurgus.
