Pragmatism
Details
Pragmatism defines truth by whether an idea “works” instead of its correspondence to reality.
Stanford Encyclopedia describes Pragmatism as:
“a philosophical tradition that – very broadly – understands knowing the world as inseparable from agency within it. This general idea has attracted a remarkably rich and at times contrary range of interpretations, including: that all philosophical concepts should be tested via scientific experimentation, that a claim is true if and only if it is useful.”
Let’s talk about this. Bring a perspective, and even a handout or PPT if you wish.
We will meet at the Newport library. I’ll bring an afternoon snack. Hope you can come!
