A Road Not Taken - A Philosophy of "Not"

A Road Not Taken - A Philosophy of "Not"

Details

Every first Sunday of the month, Ronald Green hosts a discussion attended by people from many countries. We discuss a range of philosophical issues that may include history, science, art, psychology, sociology, and more. The mix of international attendees and ideas from various countries makes for lively (and sometimes controversial) discussions.

The meetings are for the curious open to new ideas and willing to share. And also for those who just want to listen.

This time, we will be discussing the curious notion of roads not taken, of decisions not made. What do we mean by "we could have done something else"? Is any reality in that?

Behind everything that does happen is a parallel world of what does not happen, a contrastive platform on which everything stands.

While the bias is towards what is, we are poised on a critical edge between what is and what is not, with "not" as important as "is".

So "not" is in our sights in this discussion. After all, every question contains an underlying "not", doesn't it?

Very much looking forward to having you joining us.
