The Use and Abuse of History for Life: Friedrich Nietzsche

Well my friends, it's been a while since we last discussed our old buddy Friedrich Nietzsche, hasn't it?

I found one y'all might like: "On the Use and Abuse of History for Life", 1874 ("Vom Nutzen und Nachteil der Historie für das Leben".) I gotta admit, it does have a snappy title.

In it, Nietzsche offers a way of reading history, one where living life becomes the primary concern, along with a description of how this might improve the health of a society. Well, that sounds interesting.

However, they don't call him Crazy Freddy for nothing. He also introduces an attack against the basic precepts of classic humanism. Hmm,..

Doesn't matter if you agree with Hitler's philosophical BFF or not, nobody but nobody can write a polemic like Nietzsche. So, grab a bag of popcorn, find yourself a nice comfy easy chair, crack open that book, and let the philosophical spittle fly!
