"For every thousand pages published on the cause of wars there is less than one page directly on the causes of peace. And yet the causes of war and peace, logically, should dovetail into one another."

This is how Geoffrey Blainey opens his work, The Causes of War, which is really about the causes of peace as well. So, why is it that peace is so hard to achieve? His next paragraph is telling:

"One obstacle to studying international peace is perhaps the widespread assumption that it is the normal state of affairs. The assumption however is incorrect."

I'm using the 3rd edition, which is widely available used and even new is $30 less than the newest edition. Of course, feel free to use which ever one you like. For that matter, you can use any resource on the topic of the causes of war and peace that you prefer. It's a huge topic.

So, if you want to discuss the causes of war and peace, whether you just want to listen in, or indeed you have something you want to share, feel free to join us.
