Open Discussion: Prophets and Prophetism in a modern world

Details
In the age of advanced psychology and technology, both are increasingly making miracles less and less common. We are entering an age where evidence is necessary and superstitions are dying. So where does that leave the prophets?
In history, divine revelation given to a person was trusted in the eyes of the believers. Some of the largest religions of the modern age were built around the existence of prophets, such as Jesus of Nazareth, Muhammad, Abraham, and the thousands of others across the vast religions. These people shaped our very societies with their revelations and teachings.
Today, evidence replaces faith. We deem those who “speak” to God insane and we lock up those who commit harmful deeds as they scream for salvation from God.
A man had a most important role to fulfill to prove his faith to God. He was told to sacrifice his son. And he obeyed.
The man in this story is Abraham, the founding father of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
However how would this historical figure be seen today? A madman? A criminal? And what does that mean for humanity? For faith?
Let’s ask ourselves these questions in the face of a world losing its miracles.
