The Ship of Theseus & Other Paradoxes – When Logic Eats Itself

Details

Join us for a deep dive into the delightfully brain-breaking world of paradoxes — questions and puzzles that twist logic, blur boundaries, and often leave us in a state of thoughtful confusion. These aren’t just quirky riddles — they challenge how we understand time, identity, truth, morality, and even reality itself.

🔹 If a ship has all its parts replaced over time, is it still the same ship?
🔹 What happens if Pinocchio says “My nose is about to grow”?
🔹 If time travel is possible, could you go back and stop yourself from being born?
🔹 If a barber only shaves men who don’t shave themselves, does he shave himself?
🔹 Can an all-powerful being create a rock so heavy it cannot lift it?

We'll also throw in the Unexpected Hanging, the Drinker Paradox, the Raven Paradox and many others — with no expectation that we’ll “solve” them, but every chance we’ll enjoy getting tangled up together.

As always, the format is relaxed and unstructured. No lectures or panels. Just turn up, grab a drink, and join the conversation. We’ll have quotes, prompts, and questions scattered around the tables to get things flowing — and you're encouraged to move about and chat with different people throughout the night.

New faces are very welcome. You don’t need to be a philosophy expert — just someone who enjoys big questions, strange ideas, and a good pub chat.
