Perhaps the greatest dangers are arrogance and complacency, especially when we become skilled at defending them. Admitting our thinking may be inadequate is the first step towards change.
If we assume our reasoning is already complete, we see no need to develop new ways of thinking beyond logic alone.
Every belief system creates its own framework that resists criticism from within. As Edward de Bono observed, the arrogance of logic can lead us to conclude, "I am right; you are wrong." But is being logically consistent the same as being wise? Tonight we'll explore that question.
