What we’re about
Philosophy in the Park is for outdoor intellectual discussions. Our hope is that by having important discussions outside of the confines of the ‘ivory tower’ our members will be able to cultivate more practical and streetwise perspectives to life for Philosophy truly must be lived on a daily basis to have real value.
Background:
In the mid-18th century, Paris became the center of an explosion of philosophic and scientific activity challenging traditional doctrines and dogmas. The philosophic movement argued for a society based upon reason as in ancient Greece.
Philosophy In The Park Toronto seeks to revive that mindset for the 21st Century and to that end we meet in parks around the Toronto area.
Who should Join:
Anyone interested in meaningful discussions. No formal knowledge or training required (but always encouraged). Just fun, friends and free discussion on the most fundamental questions of Life.

Policy and Guidelines:
We reserve the right to remove any individuals that behave in a disrespectful manner, whether online or in-person. The following excerpt from the Ontario Human Rights Code provides a good guideline:
"... it is public policy in Ontario to recognize the dignity and worth of every person and to provide for equal rights and opportunities without discrimination ... and having as its aim the creation of a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of each person so that each person feels a part of the community and able to contribute fully to the development and well-being of the community ..."
