THIS WEEK: Ethics and morality is variously held up as either an expression of mankind’s highest values, or a fictional social construct maintained by pragmatic needs. It can, however, be both these things, and like religion, reveal the trajectory of human existence. This can be the case if ethics, and religion, are indeed expression of mankind’s highest values, and that value is the domain in which questions of human existence must eventually be resolved.
