THIS WEEK: Amongst the many ways that values are expressed, other people are a primary focus of value in our world as well as a pressing issue in ethical theory. Other people endorse our own self-value, enable us to love, and together they instantiate systems of meaning and purpose which enrich our lives. Yet the question of other people is usually framed within a moral or ethical context, and the question of why we should value other people has not yet been definitively answered. What is the significance of other people in the wider framework of value and values suggested above? Reading: The Pursuit of Value, Ch. 4, Scn. viii.
