What we’re about
Welcome to our Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) meet-up group!
The group will review Chapters 1 through 3 of George Mearsheimer's "The Τragedy of Great Power Politics." This noteworthy book published in 2001 offers a realist rather than a liberal theory of international relations.
Mearsheimer contends that his realist theory can well explain the major events in international relations between 1792 to present, while providing predictive capabilities about future events, such as:
Can China rise peacefully?
"No," according to John Mearsheimer, since China will seek to be a regional hegemony throughout Asia, in order to assure itself of territorial and regional security. Meanwhile, the United States with its approximately one hundred thousand troops in Αsia will prevent the rise of regional challengers to its position.
It's a tragedy, given quest of great powers for security through power enhancement is inescapable.
This group is for individuals who are passionate about exploring important ideas and policies that shape our world. Whether you're a student, academic, professional, or simply interested in discussing thought-provoking topics, this is the place for you.
Join us for stimulating discussions, debates, and networking opportunities with like-minded individuals who share a curiosity for the intersections of philosophy, politics, and economics.
Let's come together to broaden our perspectives and engage in meaningful conversations that can inspire change and progress in our society.
Please read the book. To use our time wisely we will stay focus and on topic.
