What really is a true spiritual path?

Aren't a lot of modalities that pose as spiritual, just game playing?

Can't we write off yoga as meaningless? Isn't it just glorified physical stretches? Or even, what I would deem dangerous forms of yoga such as kundalini and tantra, please tell me you have written them off already? If you call yourself a genuine seeker, surely you see clearly the fallacy in these modalities?

How can working with the body be spiritual? Isn't it quite foolish to think so? Wasn't yoga the import of poor eastern countries way back when? Why apply all the spiritual pretense to it? Is it because someone's making money off it?

Can't we write off any spiritual modality that has a backing by science? When I have an insight should I only validate that by a scientific certificate? Like isn't that farcical? Does science need to tell you your own mind? That is your jurisdiction and your jurisdiction alone, isn't it?

Can't we write off Satsangs as nonsense? Isn't that just a form of hypnotism, the opposite of waking up?

Can't we write off religious belief? Isn't that just a reaction out of fear, trying to believe in Santa Claus/heaven because people told us stories about Santa Claus?

Do people mess around with physical modalities when they can't do anything with their "minds"?

Doesn't insight/satori/understanding come from the mind? Doesn't it come from observing the mind? Isn't that where we should be looking, where genuine seekers should be looking?

Richard Rose: "When are we strong enough or tired enough to see the nonsense of it all? And when will we be determined enough to try to sort some truth from the jumble of evidence available? Do not think that only a small percentage of men are motivated by primative drives".

Richard Rose: "You back away from the untruth, turning from untruth until all that is left is real".

Some notes for the meeting Wed 13th:

- Is the diamond approach a useful spiritual modality: An introduction to the Diamond Approach

- Ken Wilber: Clean Up, Wake Up, Grow Up - Ken Wilber

- Can you achieve your strengths by showing your vulnerabilities?

- What is the truth beyond logic? Is it "intuition"?

- Is there anything noticeable in us that represents a fundamental truth?

- What is the overarching meaning in all religions?

- If you treat all the spiritual modalities available to you as a smorgasbord or buffet to, as it were, feast on, surely you will end up with metaphorical spiritual gas and bloating, with a good measure of IBS thrown in? Surely you need to discern a true path to get real results?

- When seeking connection with someone, what are your underlying motivations/purpose for that connection?

- Do you want a certain state of affairs to exist rather than getting down and gritty with facts?

Check out the "What we are about" section in the groups' main page for some guidelines we work to adhere to. Meetings are run on the popular Zoom platform. Please contemplate the topic in advance of the meeting to get the best out of it and bring your views and convictions to the meeting, if possible have a pen and paper close by to record anything useful that may come up that you resonate with on the night, little things you may want to contemplate further.
