I heard a comment someone used on a YouTube clip, one person said to the other nonchalantly, "God knows your heart". It went off like an "aha" in my mind. In this world we have a lot of rules, laws, religious tenets etc to live by and I guess I call this a worldly conscience, more external. This idea that "God knows your heart" brings home to me the strong sense of an inner conscience, a much more important and even empowering one, that works from the inside out, rather than the outside in.

I've heard the idea that there is a "universal conscience", an idea that Carl Jung goes into, which transcends the denominationally religion imposed conscience or the secular/social imposed conscience. It really is a simple idea, but did have a strong resonance with me when I heard the comment. Not so much initially but over the past week it has grown on me. I know that I am postulating a God with this exercise, but I feel it is still a worthy exercise. I feel it is a good idea to meditate on and should bring more dynamism to my meditations and prayers. On one level I see myself in action, and on another, I can intuit how God sees/judges my heartfelt desire or lack thereof.

If God knows your heart, does that make you feel comfortable or make you squirm? Do you dismiss the idea quickly because it is not important to you or do you dismiss it because you are afraid it could be true? How would you rate your relationship with God/Higher power? Or are such postulations a waste of time for you? Is it a lazy rationalisation to claim that there is a God or is it a lazy rationalisation to claim that there is no God?

Taking a piece from the Bible passage 3:17, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". Do you feel that God/Higher Power is pleased in you? Where do you feel you fall short?

What does "conscience" mean to you? Is it a part of your life? Does it direct your life? Do you feel that you override conscience and how do you reconcile that with yourself afterward? Do you act in reaction to externally imposed conscience or your own inward empirically derived conscience? Can you become your own authority by reacting to the former externally imposed conscience?

Does a functioning "conscience" work in tandem with a sharp, intuitive mind? Can the "conscience" function work if you are in a malaise of your own dysfunction or unquestioned robotic life routines?

What questions do you have? Please bring them to the meeting and try to uncover this topic more so we can bring that into our daily lives with more conscious awareness.
