This work of about 20 pages features Socrates defending himself in court against charges that carry a heavy penalty. Socrates explains his approach to philosophy and to life in general. Plato himself is recorded as present. This influential work is perhaps easier to understand than other Plato dialogues and could be seen foundational in Plato's output.
