Plato's Phaedo
Details
This session will take place at Highgate Library, Shepherd's Hill.
New temporary location just for this month because the Hellenic Book Service is busy.
Beware: there are two Highgate Libraries. There is one in Camden, but this one, our one, is next to Highgate tube.
In this session we will be reading aloud the dialogue by Plato called Phaedo. We should each aim to have a copy. We will take turns reading aloud, though reading is optional. Just sit an listen if you would rather. Questions will be answered as we go along so everyone can understand the text.
No preparation or prior knowledge required.
This dialogue is one of the central texts of Plato, and is generally regarded as one of the great works in the philosophical canon.
If you mark yourself as attending, please do make every effort to actually turn up! I will be contacting attendees on messenger before the meeting to issue a code to enter the meeting room the library has allocated to us. It would be useful if can respond to confirm your attendance as we get nearer the time.
Many thanks to those who have attended previous sessions, which everyone, including me, seems to have found rewarding.
If you want to buy a copy of the text try enquiries@hellenicbookservice.com
who I recommend on account of low prices and fast service.
Optional drinks at the Boogaloo pub afterwards, 3 mins walk away.
Hope to see you there!
