What we're about

The Philippine .NET Users Group (PHINUG) is a community of developers, engineers, and enthusiasts in the different cloud and software development technologies from Microsoft. The group is made up of individuals from the academe to the industry sharing the same interest and enthusiasm in the local .NET scene sharing news, information, and extending help. Azure Messaging Services: Why, When, & How? - PHINUG Online Dev Sessions 2022.08

Most applications are simple that only require a frontend, an API, and a data storage. However, as more of these applications grow in features, requirement changes, and scalability concerns arise - having just a single API layer would bring more chaos than order. That’s where a messaging layer (platforms) comes in very handy. There are a plethora of ways to implement messaging, whether it’s on-premises, on Azure / other providers, and even implementing a bespoke solution on your own.

Azure offers a lot of messaging services that application developers can use depending on different scenarios. This talk will highlight some of the fundamental messaging services such as Service Bus, Storage Queues, Event Grid, Notification Hubs, and SignalR. Sometimes it feels overwhelming that there are so many options and a lot of overlaps. The speakers will provide the “why you need messaging”, the “when to use which service”, and the “how to get started” on these said managed services.
