Sunday Chess (and Go!) - Central Phoenix

We've been going strong every Sunday for a year now! This coffeeshop has a pretty chill vibe, long tables for playing side by side, let's us keep half a dozen chess sets and a Go board on site, and gives anyone with an active US Chess membership 10% off all menu items!

It's extremely likely there'll be folks right at your chess level: We have regulars rated over 1600, there's always a couple folks under 500, and a lot of in-between. You'll be made to feel like a regular, even if it's just your first time. Every week there's players that are still learning the basics and others that are happily and patiently offering tips and explanations.

You’ll also find a few Go players every week, the ancient chinese game has found a fast growing community here, skill levels vary widely.

Show up at anytime and do whatever makes you feel comfortable: watch, play, learn, or eat a chess piece (from your own set).

The Venue
The location is Let’s Meet Up! This locally-owned coffeeshop is such a comfortable space in which to relax and connect in, that it’s become a neighborhood hub, and many locals book the venue months in advance. We’re very appreciative of owner and operator, Thea, for providing our local chess community with a very much needed space in which to grow both our membership and our skills!
