Practical Futurism: Cryo-Banking

Details
In the course of my consulting practice I have recently been doing work at a Bay Area cryonics company called TransTime. During a tour of the facility, crowded with medical monitors and massive dewars of liquid nitrogen with patients suspended within, I took particular note of a crash cart with IV bags hanging above it. I pictured myself on that cart, on the verge of death, as I may well end up some day, with no hope of cure from contemporary medical technology, and my blood ran cold.
I’ve been a cryo-crastinator for many years, putting off the process of signing up for a life insurance policy with a cryonics firm as the beneficiary. I know many other futurists who have also delayed signing up.
So for this meetup, I would like to discuss cryo-banking. What are the pros and cons? I once heard Peter Thiel express some reservations about cryonics. What if he were revived only to be tortured? I guess that’s the sort of thing that keeps billionaires awake at night. The thought would have never occurred to me.
I would also like to discuss other forms of cryo-banking. Younger people not yet ready for a family might consider freezing eggs and sperm in preparation for their inevitable decay. Others might consider stem cell banking as offered by Forever Labs. More broadly, I would also like to discuss steps we can take today to prepare for likely future scenarios. Should we be crypto-banking as well as cryo-banking?
I hope you can join us for this practical discussion of personal preparedness.
