An Introduction & Dive into Apache Kafka and the Power of Messaging Systems

• What we'll do
We will be taking a look at Apache Kafka. We will examine why Apache Kafka came to be, the power of a centralized hub and log structured data flow. We will examine how replication, partitioning, serialization and other concepts apply to the Apache Kafka platform. We will be taking a look at architecture patterns for both the Consumer Producer Model and the Kafka Connect API Model. We will also have a brief intro to Kafka Streams. This talk will be through a java implementation lens.

-Understanding the principles and powers of a messaging system and the Pub/Sub model
-Kafka Producer/Consumer API
-Kafka Connect/Kafka REST proxy/SDKs/Implementation designs
-Kafka Streams API
-Apache Avro/Schema Registries
-Apache Zookeeper
-An introduction to building data streaming applications using Kafka Streams (using tools like docker, angular, maven, spring-boot as a sample project)
